Dr. Khalid Aziz

Otto N. Miller Professor Emeritus of Earth Sciences in the Energy Resources Engineering Department, Stanford University

Dr. Khalid Aziz served as the Associate Dean for Research (School of Earth Sciences) and Chair of the Petroleum Engineering Department at Stanford. His research interests include reservoir simulation, modeling of advanced wells, multiphase flow in pipes, natural gas engineering and shale gas recovery. Dr. Aziz previously served as professor of chemical and petroleum engineering at the University of Calgary. He has also served on the faculty at the University of Alberta.

He graduated from the University of Michigan (BSE), University of Alberta (BSc and MSc), and Rice U. (PhD). Among his many awards, he has been awarded Honorary Membership in the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He has authored or co-authored more than 150 technical papers, two books and one monograph. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers and the National Academy of Engineering of the United States.

Dr. Aziz has held a number of industrial positions, including that of the Chief Engineer of Karachi Gas Co. Ltd. He is the founder of the Computer Modelling Group and co-founder of Neotechnology Consultants Ltd, both very successful companies. He is a frequent consultant to major oil and gas companies and government agencies.
