Reservoir Engineer, Reservoir Development and Optimization

Dr. Jorge Viamontes

Dr. Jorge Viamontes is a reservoir engineer with a broad petroleum engineering experience in reservoir development and optimization. Since joining QRI, Dr. Viamontes has been working on production optimization for a supergiant oil field. He joined Royal Dutch Shell plc in 2005, holding a number of positions throughout the world. Past positions include lead production reservoir engineer for a number of oil and gas fields, green field appraisal and development, subsurface team leader maximizing brown field value through redevelopment, special core analysis, and development of EOR technologies. Dr. Viamontes has taken a leading role throughout the field management lifecycle. He has led the reservoir engineering of oil fields in the appraisal, development and production stages.

Key Awards & Accomplishments

In 2006, Dr. Viamontes received a special recognition award from Shell Oil Company for outstanding contributions to coded projects (Most Confidential future technologies). While serving in Shell Gabon, he was awarded two special recognition awards. One for outstanding savings to the company of 10 mln USD in the Toucan water disposal project and the other for the best in class Shell E&P Africa reserves reporting for the Koula field. He was also awarded one special recognition award by the VP of Shell India Markets Private ltd. for his outstanding contributions to the Ekulama and Ekagerrak fields.
